SK LEARNS FROM ALBAY’S REHAB

In keeping with its thrust to maximize the rehabilitation projects’ positive impact on the people of Albay and their communities, Sagip Kapamilya transports its services beyond what the project envisions.
As a response to the clamor of the people in Albay for sustainable rehabilitation programs, Sagip Kapamilya continued to implement its integral human development efforts. Sagip Kapamilya partnerned with Simon of Cyrene Children Rehabilitation and Development Foundation, which donated one-hectare lot, to put up 60-housing unit village for families of children with disabilities. Proud to say that this is the first of its kind in the Philippines!
The integrated development strategy employed in this project requires from the people a greater awareness of how the outside world impacts on the fate of their community as well as a greater responsibility on the part of the development workers to pursue a development process that begins from the grassroots.
There is a wealth of development experiences, and insights in this project. Sagip Kapamilya anticipates much comparison of knowledge sharing among the loop of practitioners: a call for next collaborative steps.
